Losing presidential candidate Mar Roxas and his wife, Korina Sanchez recently met with Fil-American billionaire Loida Nicolas-Lewis in New York. As we all know, the wealthy businesswoman supported Roxas in the last election, and is also a huge critic of President Rodrigo Duterte. She has been very vocal in asking the president to resign from office.
“Thank you generous Loida, from Mar and me,” Korina Sanchez wrote as caption in their reunion photo she posted on her official Instagram account this Thursday, February 9. In a separate post, the ABS-CBN News anchor posted another photo, she and Loida. She said they were dining at Russian Tea Room, and earlier watched a concert at Carnegie Hall.
Last December, Loida Nicolas-Lewis denied allegations that she led a plot to oust President Duterte.
And although she admitted that she was impressed with his sincerity, the Fil-American billionaire noted that he is not doing anything to stop EJKs (extrajucial killings) in the country. With that, she joined groups calling for Duterte’s resignation.
“So his promise I will resign in 6 months if the drug epidemic is not solved, he should be true to that promise at least, no extension, resign now President Duterte,” Nicolas-Lewis said at that time, adding that she is supporting Vice President Leni Robredo when the latter resigned as Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC) chief.
“16 million who voted for Duterte did not vote for Bongbong Marcos. So be careful. We should ask for the resignation of President Duterte now and not wait until Bongbong Marcos succeeds in his nefarious plan to unseat VP Leni Rodredo. Resign now, let VP Leni become president and she will do it for you, without killing anybody.” She further said.
Early last January, blogger Thinking Pinoy exposed the so-called Lenileaks, wherein email conversations of the GDFC Yahoo Groups revealed support to protest against the hero’s burial of former President Ferdinand E. Marcos. Nevertheless, Loida Nicolas-Lewis, VP Robredo, and the Liberal Party (LP) have denied planning to impeach President Duterte.
