Emotional Gina Lopez to Inquirer, Manila Standard: ‘Your headlines are not true’
An emotional Gina Lopez, secretary of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, aired her sentiments about her ‘detractors’ and called out news agencies Manila Standard and The Philippine Daily Inquirer for publishing headline that “are not true.”
“Play the game well. If you think that what I’m doing is not right, at least tell the truth,” said Lopez who was in tears in a video uploaded on Facebook, Wednesday, February 22.
Lopez revealed that everyday is like a “war” for he so she needed to address her critics in a “relaxed” manner. In the beginning of the video, Lopez shared that she ad just finished her meditation.
“Let love rain. Let greed and selfishness be transformed into something benevolent. Mabuhay tayong lahat,” she wrote.
The self-named “lover of the environment” also cleared out that the steps taken by her department in decision making always “follow due process” and that the “law protects the right of people.”
“Walang dapat magagawa at walang dapat mangyayari na nadadamay ang buhay ng present at future generations,” she spoke.
Lopez was trying to rebut the negative remarks that she has been getting since the DENR ordered the closure of at least 23 mining companies in the country earlier this month.
She also thanked her supporters of have been sending “words of encouragement.”
“I love you and I feel you and alam ko na pwedeng-pwedeng-pwede na isang bansa na sana wala nang mahirap at sana-sana nagmamahalan,” Lopez hoped.
