Senator Panfilo Lacson on Friday night slammed the Duterte government for its apparent “double standard” and “double speak” in waging the war on illegal drugs.
Lacson expressed dismay after President Duterte admitted ordering the reinstatement of Superintendent Marvin Marcos at the helm of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Region 8.
“I thought it was an all-out drug war I was supporting. Talk about double-standard. Talk about double-speak. Change isn’t coming after all,” Lacson tweeted.
On Friday evening, Duterte said he was the one who ordered Marcos, implicated in the Nov. 5 police raid that killed Albuera (Leyte) Mayor Rolando Espinosa, reinstated. Duterte claimed this was meant to keep tabs on Marcos over allegations linking him to drug-related activities.
Marcos was also freed from restrictive custody, prompting Lacson to question Philippine National Police chief Ronald dela Rosa’s resolve
